A master's thesis at the College of Agriculture examined the genetic polymorphism of the *FOXL2* gene and its impact on the productive and physiological traits of Japanese quail.

The thesis, presented by student Ghufran Alaa Abdul-Karim, aimed to investigate the genetic polymorphism of the *FOXL2* gene in Japanese quail, determine its association with productive, physiological, fertility, and hatchability traits, and evaluate the potential application of these findings in genetic improvement and molecular selection programs.

The study concluded—based on RFLP analysis of the *FOXL2* gene using the *PstI* restriction enzyme on samples from 30 families of brown Japanese quail—that a specific genotype could be identified.
